The Design and Technology curriculum is centred on children designing and making products that solve real and relevant problems. It is a rigorous and practical subject, and has a purpose-filled, project-based approach which will foster curiosity and creativity, whilst also providing effective contexts for children to develop a strong base of skills and understanding. The children will be able to draw upon disciplines such as mathematics, science, engineering, computing and art. As part of the curriculum, children will evaluate past and present designs and consider issues such as ‘fair’ trade, sustainability and recyclability. They will have opportunities to take measured risks, thus increasingly becoming innovative, enterprising and resourceful citizens.
